The Marais does not sleep, it shifts register. When the shutters come down on the corner cafes, the streets grow quieter, the windows warmer. Eclipse belongs to that hour. A square case in polished gold tone, a deep black dial with slim line indices, gold-tone hands, and a gold-tone link bracelet that settles on the wrist like the evening itself.

In the morning it sits quietly against a white shirt cuff. By night, a black blazer and the slow walk home.
